Mr. Guercio is an honors graduate of St. John's University School of Government and Politics and a graduate of Memphis State University School of Law, Class of 1983 at which he served as a Bar Governor to the Student Bar Association. From 1983 to 1985, he was an Assistant District Attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. He is actively engaged in the representation of the firm's school district clients and municipal corporations - libraries, water districts and fire districts. He has extensive experience as general counsel and in the defense of such school districts and municipalities in all types of litigation and as labor counsel. Mr. Guercio is the past two term Chairman of the Education Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association; a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, Education Law Committee; and a member of the Law Committee of the Long Island Water Conference. He has served as a Moot Court Judge for the Suffolk Academy of Law/Suffolk County Bar Association; New York State Bar Association and the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District. He has been a guest lecturer on behalf of the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations, the Association of Superintendents of Buildings and Grounds, the Nassau and Suffolk Academies of Law, and the Bureau of Business Practice. He is also a former eight term President of the Board of Directors of Options for Community Living, Inc., a non-profit corporation providing housing for the mentally disabled, AIDS patients and the homeless.
