Ms. Sheehan earned her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta. She also studied at the University of Wuerzburg in Germany. She earned her law degree at St. John's University School of Law and is admitted to the New York and Florida bars. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Sheehan concentrates in Education, Municipal and Employment Law. She is a past President of the New York State Association of School Attorneys and has lectured on Education Law for the Academies of Law of the Suffolk and Nassau County Bar Associations, the New York State Association of School Attorneys and the New York State School Boards Association. Her most recent lecture for the New York State School Boards Association addressed Section 504 and the ADA and the Schools. She served as President of the Suffolk Academy of Law from 1983 to 1985 and as Director of the Suffolk County Bar Association from 1983 to 1986. She has served on the Board of Directors and as Secretary of the Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center, where she also chaired the Legal and Personnel Committees. She is also certified by the New York State Education Department as an impartial hearing officer. She has served as an impartial hearing officer in both Section 504 and IDEA hearings for over twenty (20) years. |
