On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, partners Richard J. Guercio, John Sheahan, Randy P. Glasser and Barbara P. Aloe conducted Guercio & Guercio, LLP's second annual Education Law conference at Hofstra University's Center for Secondary School Administrators and Supervisors. In attendance were superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals and department chairs of K-12 schools.

On Monday, December 7, 2009, Guercio & Guercio LLP partners Randy Glasser, Richard Guercio, Gary Steffanetta, Thomas Volz and associate Douglas Spencer participated as presenters and panel moderators at the Annual School Law Conference, held at the Nassau County Bar Association. This conference is presented jointly by the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations' Education Law Committees, and is intended for attorneys, school board members, school district administrators, teachers and union representatives. Nassau County Tax Certiori Refund Guarantee Litigation - On October 8, 2009, the Honorable Ute Lally, Justice of the Supreme Court, Nassau County, issued a Memorandum Decision in Corbin v. County of Nassau. This very important case was successfully litigated on behalf of the Intervenors, pro bono, by the law firms of Guercio & Guercio, LLP and Ingerman Smith LLP. More details.

On October 16, 2009, partner Barbara Aloe, and associate Christine LaPlace, presented a workshop at the Fall Conference of the Long Island Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. The topic was “The Legal Implications of Social Networking.”

On October 16, 2009, partner Greg J. Guercio gave a presenation entitled "The Art and Mystery of Collective Bargaining" at the fall conference of the National School Board's Association, Council of School Attorneys, in Seattle, Washington.
On Thursday, October 15, 2009, partner Kathy A. Ahearn served as a Moderator in a Panel Discussion on the topic of "Student Suicides" at NYSSBA's Annual Pre-Convention Law Conference in NYC at the Sheraton NY Hotel.
