Stacey Blanshaft is a veteran prosecutor with more than three decades of experience in the New York criminal justice system and is currently practicing education law and criminal law at Guercio & Guercio, LLP. She also served as a Bureau Chief in the Nassau County District Attorney's Office, where she oversaw the Felony Screening Bureau, supervising Assistant District Attorneys and support staff while evaluating felony cases for indictment, plea disposition, extradition, and arrest warrants. In this role, Stacey was responsible for assessing legal sufficiency and training prosecutors in the analysis and investigation of complex felony matters.
Prior to this appointment, Stacey served as Deputy Bureau Chief in Nassau County District Court, supervising and training more than thirty Assistant District Attorneys, overseeing arraignments, second-seating trials, and evaluating misdemeanor cases and plea offers.
Earlier in her career, Stacey spent twelve years with the Kings County District Attorney's Office, holding multiple leadership roles including Bureau Chief and First Deputy Bureau Chief of Trial Division III. In those positions, she supervised and trained dozens of prosecutors, managed felony trial units, analyzed trial data, and monitored attorney productivity. As a trial attorney, Stacey prosecuted more than twenty felony cases to verdict, including homicides, assaults, robberies, burglaries, and weapons offenses, and previously worked in Grand Jury case assessment and investigations involving serious felony crimes.
Stacey began her legal career as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Neil Jon Firetog of the Supreme Court, Kings County, and also gained experience with the New York State Department of Investigation and the Legal Aid Society of Brooklyn.
Stacey earned a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she graduated with honors. She is admitted to the New York State Bar.
