Guercio & Guercio LLP is proud to announce that Julie M. Shaw has joined the firm as a partner, bringing with her extensive experience in education law, labor relations, and municipal representation. She will be serving clients out of the Westchester and Latham offices.
Ms. Shaw earned her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. She is admitted to practice law in New York State courts.

Prior to joining Guercio & Guercio LLP, Ms. Shaw worked as a Partner for a well-respected education law firm in New York. She currently serves as the chief negotiator and spokesperson in numerous collective bargaining negotiations for school districts and municipalities, including a wide range of APPR negotiations.
For more than eighteen years, Ms. Shaw has represented clients in labor arbitration proceedings, improper practice and representation matters before PERB, employee disciplinary proceedings, and related litigation. She also provides ongoing general counsel guidance to clients on key issues in the educational setting, including student discipline, open meetings law, freedom of information law, student privacy, and constitutional law matters.

Ms. Shaw is also an active leader in the education community. She lectures for the New York State School Boards Association, the New York State Association of School Business Officials, the New York State Association of School Attorneys, the Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association, and the Mid-Hudson School Study Council.
Ms. Shaw is a past president of the New York State Association of School Attorneys where she continued to serve as a member of the Board of Directors. In addition, she was selected as one of 10 attorneys to serve on the School District Attorney Committee of the American Association of School Administrators. These activities demonstrate Ms. Shaw's commitment to keeping apprised of the ever-changing state and federal landscapes impacting public school districts and the students they serve.
